Thanks to the generosity of Canadians, Kevin Doan arrived in Canada as one of the Vietnamese “Boat People” Refugees in 1979. He studied computer science and philosophy at the University of Toronto and law at York University. Since 1996, he has been practicing personal injury and insurance law. He is a certified specialist in civil litigation with the Law Society of Ontario, and a recipient of the H. Bruce T. Hillyer Award from the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association for fearlessly advancing the rights of injured persons through trial advocacy.
Kevin respects the ordinary efforts by persons from all walks of life to contribute to civil society. In his volunteer work, he served as a mentor with three professional organizations. He was twice elected to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. He spoke at professional conferences and wrote for legal publications. He has been serving as a volunteer advisor in the Law Society of Ontario's Coach and Advisor Network Program since its inception in 2017.
In public interest advocacy, he explores systemic solutions to challenges in the civil justice system including flawed expert evidence to reduce the risks of injustices and tragedies.
